Mariemont is a village in Hamilton County in the U.S. state of Ohio, about 16 km east of Cincinnati. The village has about 3,400 inhabitants (as of the census of 2000). 1979 was declared a National Monument parts of the village ( Mariemont Historic District ) and then in 2007 the entire village ( Village of Mariemont ) as a National Historic Landmark.

History

Mariemont was founded in 1920-25 as a planned city by philanthropist Mary Emery ( 1844-1927 ) and by the landscape architect John Nolen ( 1869-1937 ) planned and executed in collaboration with Charles Livingood ( assistant and confidant of Emery ). Among the architects who were selected by Nolen for the design of individual houses were for example Grosvenor Atterbury. The houses are built in the styles of neo- Tudor, neo- colonial and neo-Renaissance. Today there are still 60 of the building preserved. The area of ​​Mariemont is according to the plan Nolens half of private land with residential buildings, a neighborhood road surface and a quarter for public areas and buildings such as parks and churches.
