Listen Marijampolė? / I (1955-1989 Kapsukas, German and Polish Mariampol ) is a Lithuanian industrial and district capital. It is also the seat of the homonymous municipality and forms in these three urban counties.

Geography

Marijampolė located in the south of Lithuania on both sides of Scheschuppe ( lit. Šešupė ) - about 50 km south-west of Kaunas and about 125 km west of the state capital of Vilnius, near the borders with Poland and the Kaliningrad Oblast (Königsberg ) in the historical region Sudauen ( Suvalkija ).

St. Michael the Archangel Basilica
