Marina Shmonina

Marina Konstantinovna Schmonina (Russian Марина Константиновна Шмонина, English transcription Marina Shmonina, . Born February 9, 1965 in Tashkent) is a former Russian sprinter who specialized in the 400 -meter run.

In 1989 she won, starting for the Soviet Union, bronze at the Indoor Athletics Championships in The Hague and was fifth at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Budapest. In 1990, she won gold at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow and finished seventh at the European Athletics Championships in Split.

At the World Indoor Championships in 1991, she won silver in the Soviet team in the 4 x 400 - meter relay.

In 1992, she was starting for the United team, fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Genoa. At the Olympic Games in 1992 it was used in the flow of the 4 x 400 - meter relay and thus contributed to the gold medal winning the United team.

In 1989 she became Soviet champion outdoors, 1990 in Halle. In 1992, she was Halle champion the Commonwealth of Independent States.
