Marine Corps Security Force Regiment

The Fleet Anti- terrorism Security Team (FAST) or FAST Companies are 1987 established specialized units of the U.S. Marine Corps ( USMC), which the Chief of Naval Operations are subject to the Commandant of the Marine Corps and, mainly for protection of bodies of U.S. Navy at home and abroad are used. They include about 500 marines.

Tasks

The FAST Companies are occasionally requested as reinforcement when the security forces of the U.S. Marine Corps in terms of forces are not sufficient on site to respond appropriately to an acute threat to; they have no permanent protection order.

Inserts

After the bombings in Saudi Arabia in 1996 FAST teams were deployed to protect local U.S. facilities in the region to take temporary custody tasks. At the same time the Task Force developed for each endangered U.S. plant its own security concept in terms of improved access controls. Fleet Anti- terrorism Security Team also completed missions in Somalia, Liberia, Panama and Iraq during the Second Gulf War, Operation Desert Shield / Storm.
