Mario Caiano

Mario Caiano ( born February 13, 1933, Rome ) is an Italian film director, screenwriter and producer.

Life

Caiano was born as the son of director and producer Carlo Caiano in Rome, studied philology and specialized in Greek and Roman archeology. In addition, he began to work for Cinecittà. During the 1950s he learned as an assistant director, the film crafts by directors such as Sergio Grieco, Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia and Riccardo Freda.

When he directed his first film in 1961, he began a long series of works dedicated to the conversation in which Caiano never let set to one genre or style. He was a reliable craftsman who created (usually at its screenplay), peplums, Adventure Movies, Western or detective films and also easily found from the late 1970s on television right.

There he started a second career, which he continued until 2001, often with miniseries for RAI.

Caiano used some pseudonyms during the years of his activity, William Hawkins, Allan Grunewald and Mike Perkins.
