Mario Conti

Mario Joseph Conti ( born March 20, 1934 in Elgin, Scotland) is a retired Archbishop of Glasgow.

Life

Conti studied for his school years at the Pontifical Scots College in Rome and was ordained by Cardinal Luigi Traglia on 26 October 1958 a priest. From 1962 to 1977, Mario Joseph Conti worked as a priest in Caithness.

On February 28, 1977 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Bishop of Aberdeen. The episcopal ordination took place on 3 May of that year by Cardinal Gordon Gray. Pope John Paul II convened on 15 January 2002 Conti Archbishop of Glasgow. A position he took up on 22 February of the same year.

Archbishop Conti is a member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. He is since 2010 a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem, whose Grand Officer and since 2013 Grand Prior of the Scottish Lieutenancy.
