Mario Tokić

Mario Tokić ( born July 23, 1975 in Derventa, SFR Yugoslavia, now Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a Croatian football player.

Career

His footballing career began in the youth team of NK Rijeka, where he also played for five years in the first team. From 1998 to 2001 he played for Dinamo Zagreb. In the summer of 2001, he moved along with Mario Bazina in the Austrian Football Bundesliga Grazer AK, where the Croat quickly became one of the most important players for the team and their captain. With the GAK the central defender 2004 Austrian Champion was twice Austrian Cup winner (2002 & 2004) and Super Cup winner in 2002. A highlight of his career was the Weitschusstor a 1-0 away win GAK in the Champions League qualifiers 2004/ 05 against the eventual winners Liverpool. In the summer of 2005 Tokić moved for two years to Austria Vienna, with which he was Austrian Champion in 2006 and twice Cup winners (2006 and 2007).

In May 2007, the defender of the Austria moved to arch rivals SK Rapid Wien, where he immediately became master in 2008. In the spring season, however Tokić could not play because he suffered a herniated disc. In the summer of 2009, his contract was terminated due to further injury with mutual consent.

Mario Tokić played 28 times in the Croatian national team and was in the squad for the Euro 2004 and World Cup 2006, but came in both competitions to no inserts.
