Marion Chesney

Marion Chesney ( b. 1936 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish writer who has made particularly through its numerous historical romance novels and thrillers a name.

Part of her works published Marion Chesney under various pseudonyms: MC Beaton, Sarah Chester, Helen Crampton, Ann Fairfax, Marion Gibbons, Jennie Tremaine and Charlotte Ward.

Life

The professional career of Marion Chesney began in a bookstore in Glasgow, where she sold novels. Later she worked as a theater critic, reporter and editor for various Scottish newspapers until in London, she took a job as chief reporter for the women's division of the Daily Express.

During this time, Marion Chesney married the editor Harry Scott Gibbons and got him a son, Charles. They moved temporarily to the United States because her husband had a job offer there get. In order to be able to stay at home longer with their child, she began to write historical novels. After more than 100 books, who played mainly in the 19th century, they moved to detective novels. A holiday in Sutherland inspired her to the first story about Hamish Macbeth and the family eventually moved to there. Today she lives in a cottage in the Cotswolds, where the detective series about Agatha Raisin took their origin.
