Mark di Suvero

Mark di Suvero ( born as Marco Polo di Suvero; born September 18, 1933, Shanghai, China) is an American sculptor.

Life

Suvero was born to Italian parents. After his immigration to the United States, he studied from 1953 to 1957 in San Francisco at City College and at the University of California at Santa Barbara and Berkeley locations. In 1957 he moved to New York. After an accident in 1960 Suvero suffered from paralysis. Nevertheless, found in the same year his first solo exhibition in New York. In 1968 he participated in the documenta 4 in Kassel in the Sculpture Department. Since 1969 he teaches at the University of California. In 1973 he became a professor at the International University of Art in Venice.

Mark di Suvero lives and works in Petaluma (California ), New York and Chalon -sur -Saône, France.

About Suvero work

Mark di Suvero artistic work consists of large sculptures. He used steel beams and colors. He has no classical training as a blacksmith or engineer. Nevertheless, he created his sculptures themselves, which supports him a team of employees.
