Mark Jones (footballer)

Mark Jones ( born June 15, 1933 Barnsley, † February 6, 1958 in Munich) was an English footballer. He was one of eight Manchester United players who were killed in the crash of British European Airways flight 609. Jones was most of the time in the 1950s, the defensive leader of Manchester United and won with the team twice, the English Championship.

In 1957, he missed the FA Cup final because of injury, while he waited for a nomination in the national team. Much of the football experts think that these would also be carried out if the defender had not lost his life in the plane crash in Munich. Overall, Jones played 103 games for Manchester United and was able to score a goal.

The football player is near Barnsley Wombwell, his birthplace, buried. His wife June and his then two year old son Gary survived him two, and four months after his death, his daughter Lynne was born.
