Mark Karpeles (full name Marie Robert Mark Karpeles, born June 1, 1985 in Chenôve ) is the CEO of the online barter exchange for Bitcoins Mt.Gox, KK

Career

Karpeles is the only child of a real estate broker Anne Karpeles. Between 1995 and 2000 he completed an education at the Collège de Prieuré Binson in Châtillon- sur -Marne and the Prieuré De Binson in Dormans. One year he spent at the gymnasium Claude Bernard in Paris and decided his education in 2003 at the High School Louis Armand, Paris. His first professional position between 2003 and 2005 was the site of an administrator and PHP programmer in the development studio Cyberjoueurs. In 2009 he emigrated from France to Japan and founded the IT service Tibanne Co. Ltd.. in Tokyo.

Mt.Gox

In 2011, he earned with Tibanne the Bitcoin trading center Mt.Gox. Mt.Gox has become the leading trading venue for Bitcoins and wrapped partly about 80 % of world trade bitcoin from. After Mt Gox had stopped all payments to customers for alleged technical problems on 7 February 2014, the exchange introduced on 25 February 2014, a trade. Mark Karpeles gave back his seat on the board of Bitcoin Foundation.

On February 28, 2014 presented Mt Gox at a Japanese district court an application for bankruptcy protection. Karpeles admitted at a press conference one of the disappearance of 850,000 Bitcoins (market value EUR 350 million). This amount was reduced according to a declaration by Karpeles on March 20, 2014 Statement to 650,000 Bitcoins.
