Mark Konopacke

Mark John Konopacke ( born April 26, 1963 in Iron Mountain ) is a former American ski jumper.

On January 19, 1983 Konopacke was at the age of 20 years, his World Cup debut in Lake Placid. He has already won his first four World Cup points with 11th place. Almost exactly a year later, he reached again in Planica World Cup points. He was then taken to the World Cup season 1984/85 firmly into the national squad.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 in Seefeld in Tirol, he ranked 23rd on the normal hill and 47th in the large hill. In the team competition, he reached the 5th place together with Nils Stolzlechner, Rick Mewborn and Mike Holland.

At the Olympic Winter Games in 1988 in Calgary, Canada Konopacke jumped on the normal hill on the 18th and on the large hill on the 42nd place. In the team competition, he reached the 10th place jointly with Ted Langlois, Dennis McGrane and Mike Holland.

Shortly after the Olympics, he was U.S. champion in jumping in Ishpemping.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1989 in Lahti he remained comparable unsuccessful as in the World Cup competition before. So he reached the 61st place on the normal hill and only the 46th in the large hill. Also in the 1989/90 World Cup season, he was unsuccessful and was able to record any points wins. After the season 1990/1991 started badly for him, ended Konopacke by the Nordic World Ski Championships 1991 in Val di Fiemme, when he reached number 44 on the normal hill and number 60 on the large hill ski jumping his active international career. However, he appeared once again in to the U.S. championship in 1991 in Steamboat Springs and won the gold medal there.
