Mark Reizen

Mark Ossipowitsch Travel (born 21 Junijul / July 3 1895greg in Saizewo, Russian Empire, today Horlivka, Ukraine, .. † November 25, 1992 in Moscow, Russia) was a Soviet bassist Jewish descent.

Traveling father worked in a coal mine. Travel wanted to be an engineer first, but it was during his school days in Kharkov also encouraged to study singing. In 1921 he made ​​his debut at the Opera Kharkov as Pimen in Boris Godunov. In 1925, he debuted on GATOB in Leningrad, 1928 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. From 1930 he was in Europe and the United States numerous guest appearances. The tall, handsome artist quickly grew to international stature and was celebrated around the world as the successor Fyodor Chaliapin. After the war, he appeared primarily at domestic theaters until 1964 he was a regular member of the Bolshoi ensemble. 1965-1970 he taught at the Moscow Conservatory, in 1967 he was appointed professor there.

Traveling unusually broad, moderately expressive voice sounded a little static even at the age of 90 years with force and virtuosity.
