Mark Sanford

Marshall Clement "Mark " Sanford ( * May 28, 1960 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida) is an American politician ( Republican). He was from 2003 to 2011 Governor of the State of South Carolina.

Career

Sanford grew up in South Carolina, and later studied at the University of Virginia, where he earned the degree of MBA (Master of Business Administration). From 1995 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States and represented there the first congressional district of South Carolina. In 2000, he announced to no longer run after three terms of office for his seat in Congress.

Tenure

In 2002, Sanford was set up by his party as a candidate for the governorship. As a candidate for the office of Lieutenant Governor André Bauer was nominated.
