Mark Schreiber, Baron Marlesford

Mark Shuldham writer, Baron Marlesford, DL ( born October 11, 1931) is a British politician of the Conservative Party and Life Peer.

Life and career

Schreiber attended Eton College and Trinity College. He did his National Service in the Coldstream Guards. There he rose to the Second Lieutenant. Later he worked as a farmer.

From 1957 to 1963 he was employed by Fisons Ltd.. In the Conservative Research Department he was from 1963 until 1967. From 1967 to 1970 he was director of the Conservative Party Public Sector Research Unit. For the government, he was from 1970 to 1974 special advisor. From 1974 to 1975 he was at this opposition.

Also in 1974 he became editorial consultant at The Economist and remained so until 1991. In this position, he worked as a parliamentary correspondent. From 1989 to 1995 he was director of the Eastern Group plc.

From 1968 to 1970, the East Suffolk County Council belonged to. Since 1991 he has been Deputy Lieutenant of Suffolk.

Membership in the House of Lords

Schreiber was appointed Life peer as Baron Marlesford, of Marlesford in the County of Suffolk on June 7, 1991. His official introduction to the House of Lords took place on 11 June 1991 with the support of George Norrie, 2nd Baron Norrie and Elizabeth Carnegie, Carnegie of Lour, Baroness. His inaugural address was delivered on 24 June 1991.

As subjects of political interest he calls nature protection, defense and the economy of the EU. As states of interest he calls China, Hong Kong and Iran. From 2003 to 2007 he was a member of the EU Select Committee. From 2000 to 2005, and since 2010 he is a member of the Economic and Financial Affairs Sub - Committee. He was from 2005 to 2009 a member of the Home Affairs Sub - Committee.

He participated as a member of the All - Party Parliamentary China Group in December 2011 on a trip to China in part.

From 1980 to 1992 he was a member of Countryside Commission. From 1985 to 1993 he served on the Rural Development Commission. At Mitsubishi Corporation International NV from 1990 to 2003 he was a consultant, as well as at John Swire & Sons from 1993 to 2009. From 1993 to 1998 he was Chairman ( Chairman ) of Council for the Protection of Rural Eengland.

Since 1991 he is an independent national director of The Times Newspapers Holdings Ltd.. From 1997 to 2007 he was director of the New Baring Russia Fund.

Schreiber is currently ( December 2012) Non-executive Director of the financial services GaveKal Research in Hong Kong, Chairman ( Chairman ) of the Marlesford Parish Council since 1978 and President of the Suffolk Preservation Society since 1998.

Family

His claims to be his great-grandmother was Greek and a niece of Ioannis Kapodistrias.
