Markéta Irglová

Markéta Irglová ( born February 28, 1988 in Valašské Meziříčí ) is a Czech musician, singer and actress.

At the age of seven years Markéta came to music when her parents bought her her first piano and she enrolled in the music school. At age nine, she learned from her father playing guitar. Marketa's father oversaw a concert by Glen Hansard's band The Frames and invited the group then to his house. At that time, Markéta was 13 years old. Glen was visiting her father across the years to write songs on the spot. Together they wrote the soundtrack to the 2006 Irish film Once, in which she also appeared as the main character. For the song "Falling Slowly" they received the 2008 Oscar for best song. The film also won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Furthermore Once was nominated for a Grammy and received the LAFCA Prize 2007 for the best film music.

The album together as The Swell Season is end of October 2009 appeared; it is called Strict Joy. In the fall of 2011, the publication of Irglovás first solo album Anar followed.

From 2011 lived Irglová in New York and married in July 2011, the sound engineer Tim Iseler ( Iseler Communication), with which she recorded her latest album, Anar. 2012 followed the divorce of Iseler and the move to Iceland, where Irglová record her next solo album.
