Geography
Maerkisch Luch is located about 24 km east of Rathenow and about 60 km west of Berlin. To the east of the community is the 87 m above sea level. NN high Heineberg.

History
Barnewitz was mentioned in 1289, first documented as Borne joke. The place is of Slavic origin. At the end of the Second World War the town was badly damaged. The first documented mention of Buschow place in the year 1256th Excavations 1,000 year old vases or urns were found in Buschow. Garlitz as the oldest part was first mentioned in documents in 1161. 1822 burned down the place and was rebuilt. In 1307 was the first written mention of Möthlow.
The municipality was created on 31 December 2002 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities Barnewitz, Buschow, Garlitz and Möthlow.
