Markku Slawyk

Markku Slawyk ( born December 8, 1962 in Saarijärvi, Finland ) is a former German hockey player, he won in 1984 with the German national hockey team, the Olympic silver medal.

Markku Slawyk was born in Finland, but moved in 1966 with his parents to Germany and received in the same year, the German citizenship. He played until 1986 for the RTHC Bayer Leverkusen and then moved to Hamburg to Uhlenhorster HC. In 1982 he won the German team at the Junior World Cup in Kuala Lumpur and made his debut the same year in the senior team. In 1983, he finished with the German team to third place at the European Championship in Amstelveen. The defender was a regular player at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, where the team lost only in the final against Pakistan. At the World Championships in London in 1986 the German team won the bronze medal at the Champions Trophy in 1986 won Germany. Overall Slawyk worked from 1982 to 1987 in 96 countries playing with, including 12 in the hall.

After his career Slawyk worked as a coach, he is the Hamburg State coach for hockey.
