Marko Jozinović

Marko Jozinović ( born March 28, 1920 in Devetine; † August 11, 1994 in Dubrovnik, Croatia) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop of Vhrbosna.

Life

Marko Jozinović was ordained in the Sacred Heart Cathedral of Sarajevo on 29 June 1944 as a priest. In 1945 he was arrested and spent six years with other priests and bishops in prison in Zenica. After years as a parish pastor Bishop Marko Alaupović 1961 sent him to the Pontifical Croatian College of St. Jerome in Rome, he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University in philosophy and theology and a doctorate in 1964 for a Doctor of Philosophy. He taught moral theology and in 1969 had a professorship at the Archbishop's Seminary in Sarajevo; Archbishop Franjo Smiljan Čekada appointed him to the cathedral chapter.

On June 27, 1977 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Archbishop of Vhrbosna. He received his episcopal consecration on 23 October 1977, the Apostolic Nuncio to Yugoslavia Archbishop Michele Cecchini. Co-consecrators were Franjo Kuharić, Archbishop of Zagreb, and Petar Cule, Bishop of Mostar Ratko Peric.

During his tenure, the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart (Sarajevo) has been extensively renovated. For health reasons, he retired on 19 April 1990.

He died in Dubrovnik at the age of seventy-six years. His body was transferred to Sarajevo and buried in the grave he created bishop laying in the cathedral. By 2011, were buried gradually transferred to the mortal remains of the archbishops and solemn.
