Marko Mesić (priest)

Marko Mesic (* 1640, † February 2nd 1713 in Karlobag ) was a Croatian priest and freedom fighters. He is revered as a national hero in Croatia.

Life

Originally comes from Marko Mesic of the Croatian noble family of the Mesic, who is based in Brinje. He was also active in the region as a pastor.

Commander in the Military Frontier

In 1689, he organized an uprising against the Ottoman Empire and freed the regions of Lika and Krbava.
