Indian market is a market town located about 35 km northwest of Munich in the Bavarian district of Dachau, located on the Glonn. "Market " is part of the name of the municipality, with title it is called Market Market Indian village.

History

The place can look back on over 1000 years of history. Market Indian village was first mentioned in the year 972, the districts of Long Pettenbach and Glonn even in the years 773 and 774

The monastery of the Augustinian Canons, founded in 1120 has long been the economic and spiritual center of the area. Taken over in 1783 by Munich canons, religious of the Salesian Sisters and the Sisters of Mercy and the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising followed as the owner of the monastery.

In 1885 the name of the municipality was officially changed from Indian village in Indian market village.

In the former convent of the Sisters of Mercy, a children's home was established in 1938. Behind the convent walls, near the water tower, a " children's barracks " for infants of foreign laborers was built from the environment in 1944. In the barracks, which was similar to the barracks of the concentration camp of Dachau, from the appearance, lived primarily children of Soviet and Polish forced laborers, which usually caused by abuse. 32 of 63 children housed there died due to inadequate supply and malnutrition.
