Marlon Pérez Arango

Marlon Alirio Perez Arango (born 10 January 1976) is a Colombian cyclist.

Marlon Pérez began his career in 2001 at the Cycling Team 05 Orbitel after he decided in 2000, the time trial of the Tour of Colombia for themselves. In 2001, he again won three stages in the race through his home country. Two months later he was Colombian national time trial champion. In 2004 he moved to Colombia - Selle Italia team. At the Tour de Langkawi, he won earlier in the season, the first two stages.

After the Italian Professional Continental team Tenax, 2007 for Universal Caffè Ecopetrol and in the seasons 2008 and 2009 he drove for the ProTeam Caisse d' Epargne drove in 2006, he was employed since 2010 for small Colombian teams.

In 2012, he won two stages at the Vuelta a Costa Rica. After finding at two doping tests during this tour in the A sample of his urine GW1516, he was provisionally suspended by the International Cycling Union on May 3, 2013. In GW1516 is a drug that was originally developed to combat obesity, but was not allowed because there was a high risk of cancer in clinical trials. The World Anti-Doping Agency had explicitly warned against the use of this is to be regarded as gene doping preparation which is solely available on the black market as a health hazard in the spring of 2013.
