The Al Burayqah airport (English: Marsa Brega Airport ) is the airport of Brega (Al Burayqah ) in Libya. The airport is about 3 km south of Brega. The airport area is just off the main road to Ajdabiya.

History

During the uprising in Libya, the airport was in the hands of opposition forces, but was reportedly recaptured on March 2, 2011 by government forces.

Airfield characteristics

The airport has several navigation aids. The non-directional beacon ( NDB ) transmits on the frequency: 403 kHz with code MB. The local magnetic variation is 3 ° East.

According to ASN, an accident in the vicinity of the airport is known.

  • On 13 January 2000 had an accident a decade-old, twin-engined Short 360-300 of the Sirte Oil Company, after 7138 flight hours, 5 km from the airport. This 22 occupants were killed.
