Marta Laureano

Marta Laureano is a Mexican-born woman who was bound on 16 August 1995 in Amarillo in the American state of Texas following a trial for child abuse by the District Judge Samuel Kiser by court order to speak English with her daughter.

Marta Laureano wanted their native language Spanish speak with the child, because it should grow up bilingually. In contrast, the divorced father of English who led complained that the child learn otherwise only by him in English, which is not enough. He won the case. The judge reasoned if the daughter starting first grade and not even able to speak the language that is spoken by the teachers and the other children, even though she was a full-fledged American citizen who would abuse the child and referred to the position of a maid.
