Martha 's Vineyard AVA is a January 3, 1985, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives recognized wine region in the U.S. state of Massachusetts.

Location

The American Viticultural Area, Martha 's Vineyard is spread over two islands Martha's Vineyard and Chappaquiddick within the administrative unit Dukes County. Nowadays, mainly the larger island is known as a resort and is busy during the summer months by tourists. History

The establishment of the Martha's Vineyard AVA designation of origin in 1985 was quite controversial and has been particularly challenged by the California Winery Heitz Cellars, with its 16 hectares of vineyard named Martha 's Vineyard.
