Martin Benson (actor)

Martin Benson ( born August 10, 1918 in London, † February 28, 2010 in Buckinghamshire ) was a British actor.

Life

Martin Benson began his acting career in 1948 with the feature film The blind Godess by Harold French. The following year he played a small role in Alfred Hitchcock's film drama slave of the heart. He had another small role in Sir Walter Scott's Ivanhoe Knights movie - The Black Knight. Until the mid- 1950s he played mostly as small roles that he was not named in the credits. He had significant supporting roles in 1956 on the side of Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr in the Oscar-winning musical The King and I as well as in the genre classics Gorgo ( 1961). In the 1960s, he also starred in a series of successful film productions, including the epic film Cleopatra, the James Bond film Goldfinger and A Shot in the Dark from the Pink Panther series.

His television appearances included guest roles in series such as The Saint and The professionals; In addition, he starred in the BBC production of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy the Vogon Vogon Prostetnic Jeltz. He had his last appearance at the age of 86 years in the British television series Casualty.
