Martin Murray (boxer)

Martin Murray ( born September 27, 1982 in St Helens, Merseyside ) is a British professional boxer at middleweight.

Boxing career

He started at the age of ten years with the sport of boxing, trained in Glass Boxing Gym in St Helens and won the 2004 English Amateur Championships at welterweight. In 2007 he became a professional and proposed a number of construction opponents, including Danny Butler ( 13-0 ), Joe Rea ( 6-0), Kevin Concepcion ( 14-1), Sergei Chomitski ( 22-5 ) and Shalva Jomardaschwili (26 - 1).

In his 20th fight on July 16, 2010 in Bolton, he won by unanimous points victory against Peter Mitrevski junior ( 23-6 ), the championship of the Commonwealth middleweight. In his next fight on November 26th of the same year in Bolton, he won by TKO win in the third round against Brazilian Carlos Nascimento ( 25-2 ), in addition, the Intercontinental Cup the WBA. These he defended in April 2011 by t.K.o. in the fourth round against the also from Brazil dating John Anderson Carvalho ( 21-4 ). On 18 June 2011, he won the British championship additionally by a premature victory in the fifth round against Nick Blackwell (8-0 ).

On 2 December 2011, he boxed in Mannheim against Felix Sturm ( 36-2 ) for the WBA Super World Champion title at middleweight. In the fast-paced battle storm hit, although clearer than Murray with his jab, but this had the higher impact frequency. After twelve rounds the bout was scored a draw ( 112:116, 114:114, 115:113 ), whereby storm titleholder remained. Already in June 2012, defeated Murray Karim Achour (13-2 ) over ten rounds and punched on 24 November 2012 at the Interim WBA world championship against Jorge Navarro ( 12-0 ). He had the Venezuelans already in the first round on the ground and eventually won by TKO early as the corner of Navarro gave up the fight in the sixth round.

On April 27, 2013, boxed against world ranked first Sergio Gabriel Martínez ( 50-2 ) for the championship of the WBC, but it was defeated on points over twelve rounds.
