Martin Stuart-Fox

Martin Stuart -Fox ( born 1939 ), BSc, BA, MA, PhD, is an Australian scientists Southeast Asia, historian and former journalist. He is Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Queensland in Brisbane and the author of several books on the history of Laos.

Life

Martin Stuart -Fox was born in 1939. After his graduation he worked from 1963 to 1965 as a journalist in Laos and then as a war correspondent in Vietnam. After leaving Vietnam, he reported from Afghanistan, India and Bangladesh. In late 1972 he returned to Australia and took a job at the Department of History at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. He headed for five years, the historical seminar. In 2005 he went into retirement.

Research priorities

Stuart -Fox is engaged in, among others, historical theory, history of ideas, early Buddhism, history and cultural traditions of South and East Asia as well as religious symbolism; He was known, however, particularly as an expert on the history of Laos.
