Martin Wimmer

Martin Wimmer ( born October 11, 1957 in Munich) is a German former motorcycle racer.

1978 Wimmer won the newly introduced Yamaha XS -400 Cup. He took 1980-1991 participated in the Motorcycle World Championship and launched mainly in the 250 cc class on Yamaha. He was able to win three Grand Prix victories. The sporty and successful year was in it for him in 1985, in which he won the Grand Prix of Germany and two second places ( Grand Prix of Spain and the Dutch TT ) finished. His best finish in the World Championship was fourth overall places in 1982 and 1985. Moreover, he was on Yamaha four times German champion, three times. In the 250 cc class and once at the 350ern

In 1987, he won on Yamaha together with the Australian Kevin Magee, the 8- hour race at Suzuka.

His daughter Miriam Wimmer is television presenter.

With effect from March 23, 2009 he bought with his wife, Dr. Martina Haeger and Ralf Waldmann motorcycle manufacturer MZ Group Hong Leong Industries Malay and was then Managing Director of the company. On September 8, 2012 Wimmer filed for the motor Zschopau insolvency at the district court of Chemnitz.
