Martino Scarafile

Martino Scarafile ( born July 1, 1927 in Cisternino, Brindisi, Italy, † 27 December, 2011 Palagianello, Taranto ) was Bishop of Castellaneta.

Life

Martino Scarafile received on 23 July 1950, the ordination to the priesthood for the Diocese of Monopoli.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 20 December 1980 Titular Bishop of Rotaria as well as auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Conversano - Monopoli and donated him on 6 January 1981 in St. Peter's episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Giovanni Canestri, Auxiliary Bishop of Rome, and Joaquim Belchior da Silva Neto CM, Bishop of Luz.

On 31 October 1985 he was appointed Bishop of Castellaneta. On 14 February 2003, John Paul II took his on the grounds of age pre- mounted resignation.

Martino Scarafile was prior of the Commandery of the Knights of St Castellaneta grave in Jerusalem.
