Martti Järventie

Martti Järventie ( born April 4, 1976 in Tampere ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since 2011 in Tampere Ilves in the SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Martti Järventie began his career as a hockey player with Ilves Tampere, for whom he played in the SM- liiga 1994-2000. In the 1995/96 season he was also in 16 games for the league rivals Lukko Rauma on the ice. After the season 2000/ 01, in which stood the defender at TPS Turku under contract, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the fourth round as a total 109 players from the Montreal Canadiens, for which he only one in the following season, however, game played and elsewhere in the American Hockey League for their farm team, the Quebec citadels aground. Then came Järventie back to his Finnish homeland, where he stood first in the 2002/03 season at his former club Ilves Tampere under contract before he was active for Jokerit Helsinki until the summer of 2007.

In the 2007 /08 season played Järventie for the second time in his career abroad, he was active for Mora IK of the Swedish Elitserien. After the season, he returned to Finland, where he received a contract with the reigning champions Kärpät Oulu, with whom he was in season 2008/ 09 runners-up. Then he left again Oulu and was taken from the Helsingfors IFK under contract by which he won in 2011 the Finnish championship. For the 2011/12 season he returned to his former club Ilves Tampere.

Internationally

For Järventie Finland took part in the Junior World Championships in 1995 and 1996.
