Martyazo

The Republic Martyazo was a short-lived state, the Hutu rebels in Burundi proclaimed on 1 May 1972. The state was located in the mountainous area of Vuzigo between Makamba and the Nyanzasee, was established in an attempt after a wave of violence against the Tutsi and parts of the Hutu population, who refused to join the rebels, a political base to form. Already on May 9, 1972 occupied Tutsi - dominated government forces the region and ended the secession.

Due to their only brief existence, the Republic did not develop a formal government structures. President of Martyazo was allegedly Antoine Serukwavu.
