Mary Ellen Chase

Mary Ellen Chase ( born February 24, 1887 in Blue Hill, Maine, USA; † 28 July 1973 in Northampton, Massachusetts) was an American writer and high school teacher.

Chase received her Ph.D. in English at the University of Minnesota, where she worked as an assistant professor from 1922 to 1926. She taught at Smith College from 1926 until her retirement in 1955.

She wrote more than 30 books. Your famous test plants were Mary Peters ( Mary Peters, 1934), Silas Crockett (1935 ), Windswept. Novel of three generations ( Windswept, 1941) and On the Edge of Darkness ( Edge of Darkness, 1957). In addition, she has worked very hard with the Bible, whose language and how it is to convey to the modern man. To this end, it published, among others, The Book of Books. The Bible and the man of today ( The Bible and the Common Reader, 1944) and Life and Language in the Old Testament (Life and Language in the Old Testament, 1955). They also presented a number of scientific and didactic fiction books, one of which in particular Constructive Theme Writing for College Freshmen a standard work was, (1929 for the first time ) that underwent three editions until 1957. Most German transmissions of their works created Maria von Schweinitz.
