Masakatsu Shibasaki

Masakatsu Shibasaki (Japanese柴 崎 正 胜, Masakatsu Shibasaki, born January 25, 1947 in Saitama Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese chemist.

Life and work

Shibasaki studied chemistry at the University of Tokyo, where he received his PhD in the group of Shun'ichi Yamada 1974. After a post -doctoral stay with EJ Corey at Harvard University, he came back to Japan in 1977, where he accepted a professorship at the Teikyo University. In 1983 he became a group leader at Sagami Chemical Research Center, 1986 he became a professor at the University of Hokkaido. In 1991 he accepted a position at the University of Tokyo. Since 2010, Shibasaki is a director at MCRF ( Microbial Chemistry Research Center) in Tokyo.

In 1995 he was a visiting professor at the University of Marburg.
