Masayuki Naoshima

Masayuki Naoshima (Japanese直 嶋 正 行, Naoshima Masayuki, born October 23, 1945 in Ikeda, Osaka Prefecture) is a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party (DPJ ), a member of the Sangiin, the Japanese House of Lords, and former economy minister of his country. In the party he belongs to Kawabata group.

After completing his studies at the business school of the University of Kobe in 1971 Naoshima worked for Toyota Motor. From 1984 he took over management positions with " All-Japan Federation of Workers' Unions in the automotive industry " (in short: Jidōsha-Sōren/JAW ), 1991 he was appointed Deputy Chairman.

In 1992, Naoshima in politics and became a candidate of the Democratic Socialist Party (DSP ) via the proportional representation list for the first time elected to Sangiin. In 1994 he became a member of the New Progressive Party, 1998, first as a member of the "New Brüderlichkeitspartei " before it finally became part of the Democratic Party. For the DPJ Naoshima was re-elected in the elections of 1998 and 2004.

In Sangiin Naoshima was a member of various committees, including the finance, transport and budget committee and the Special Committee on the Constitution. In the Democratic Party, he was among several shadow cabinets since 1999 as Shadow Deputy Minister (State Secretary ) to. In 2007 he took over the chairmanship of the Policy Research Council and was also introduced as " the next Cabinet Secretary ".

After the government takeover of the Democrats in September 2009 Naoshima was appointed as Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry to the Cabinet Hatoyama. Under Hatoyama's successor, Naoto Kan, he was taken first in his cabinet, Akihiro Ohata replaced in September 2010.
