Mase, Switzerland

Mase ( until 1902 officially known as Mage ) was until December 31, 2010, a municipality in the district Hérens in the French speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.

In the referendum of 24 February 2008, the proposed merger of the three municipalities Vernamiège, Nax and Mase failed only very scarce. Nax and Mase said yes, but Vernamiège rejected the project with 67 votes to 61 at. On September 7, 2008, another referendum was held in which all three municipalities adopted the project. The new municipality of Mont -Noble was born on 1 January 2011.
