Mashonaland West Province

Mashonaland West ( German Westmaschonaland ) is a province of Zimbabwe. It has a total area of ​​57,441 km ² and 1.2 million inhabitants ( 2002). Its capital is Chinhoyi.

Mashonaland West is a very contrasting area. The northern part of the Zambezi escarpment is inhospitable, very thin to completely uninhabited, hostile and designated as a national park. The southern part is fertile, densely populated and agriculturally used intensively and with many small towns ( Kadoma, Chinhoyi, Norton, Chegutu, Muzvezve ). He is also close to Harare and thus the most important sales market of the country. The northern part, however, has only the Kariba Dam, but brings no prosperity of this region, as it is managed by Harare from. Larger towns in the northern part are Kariba and Kaori.
