The Mashpee River in the protected area

Mashpee River Reservation is a 248 acre (1 km ²) large nature reserve near the town of Mashpee, Massachusetts in the United States, which is administered by the organization The Trustees of Reservations.

Sanctuary

The eponymous Mashpee River rises in Mashpee / Wakeby Pond and ends at Cape Cod in the Popponesset Bay. Through the reserve lead 2 mi (3.2 km) trails that are part of the Cape Cod Pathways.

The protected area was up to its establishment owned by John W. Farley, who had acquired it in 1915 gradually piecemeal and in 1959 handed over to the Trustees. A camp in the reserve still bears his name today. The area was expanded by a further gift in 1979 and by a land purchase in 1998.
