Masjid Al-Dahab

Masjid Al- Dahab ( or The Golden Mosque; Filipino: Moskeng Ginto; Spanish: Mezquita del Globo de Oro ) is situated in the earlier Muslim-dominated Quiapo district in Manila and is considered the largest mosque in Metro Manila. The Golden Mosque gets its name because its dome shines in shimmering gold. Under the direction of former Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos, it was built in 1976 for the visit of Libyan President Muammar al - Gaddafi, although his visit was canceled. She now serves the Muslim community in Manila and it is usually crowded for Friday prayers.

The minaret is now completely rusted and the dome partially. Meanwhile, renovation work has been initiated. The mosque holds 3,000 worshipers.
