Masquerade (book)

Masquerade is a children's book by British author, illustrator and painter Kit Williams ( b. 1946 ). Had it contains encrypted clues to uncover a jeweled golden jewel in the shape of a hare, which created Williams and in the night of 7 to 8 August 1979 attended by show host and author Bamber Gascoigne ( born 1935 ) is buried in the UK. People from all over the world went on a search for the jewel, which was found on February 24, 1982 in Ampthill.

Masquerade was released in 1979 and founded the genre of so-called armchair treasure hunt (English armchair treasure hunt ). The book was translated into German and French, among others, and was very well received in the United States, Australia, South Africa and Japan.

For a scandal caused in 1988 a publication of the Sunday Times, which revealed that the finder of the treasure had not solved the puzzle in a legal way. He'd rather get insider information from the former partner of the author.
