Massimo Massimi

Massimo Cardinal Massimi ( born April 10, 1877 in Rome, Italy, † March 6, 1954 ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Massimo Massimi received after studying philosophy and Catholic theology in 1900 the sacrament of Holy Orders. Subsequently, he worked for eight years as a pastor in various churches of Rome, before he worked for the Tribunal of the Roman Rota from 1908.

In 1911, he was secret chamberlain of His Holiness, 1915 Auditors and 1926-1935 Dean of the Roman Rota. In December of 1935, Pope Pius XI took him. as cardinal deacon with the title of Santa Maria in Portico diakonia and it transferred a year later the head of the Pontifical Commission for the codification of Canon Law of the Eastern Churches. 1939 Massimo Massimi was President of the Pontifical Commission for the Authentic Interpretation of Legislative Texts. In 1946 he was elevated while retaining its title Diakonia cardinal priest per hac vice and worked since this year as Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signature.

He died in March 1954 in Rome and was buried in the cemetery " Campo Verano ". His remains were transferred to the church of Santa Maria in Portico 1976.
