Massimo Scaligero

Massimo Scaligero, pseudonym of Antonio Massimo Sgabelloni ( born September 17, 1906 in Veroli; † January 26, 1980 in Rome ) was an Italian journalist and writer anthroposophist.

Life

Scaligero grew after the early death of his mother with his uncle, the journalist Pietro Scabelloni on. There he learned early many personalities of the Italian intellectual life know - about Gabriele D'Annunzio - and discovered in the library authors such as Pascal, Stirner, Nietzsche and Sri Aurobindo.

At 20, he sought to Julius Evola, was his pupil first and then encountered the works of Rudolf Steiner; He reported on his spiritual development in 1972 in his autobiography Dallo Yoga alla Rosa Croce.

From 1932 he worked as editor of the newspaper Italia Marinara, an institution of the " Lega Navale Italiana " ( LNI ). 1941/42, he wrote frequently for the Fascist newspaper La difesa della razza. He says that he should have tried in those years to combat racism and give him an " ethical and symbolic content ." In 1944 he came for half a year in American captivity.

From 1950 to 1978 he was editor of East and West of the " Istituto Italiano per il Medio ed Estremo Oriente " ( IsMEO ) in Rome, which had been founded in 1933 by Giovanni Gentile and Giuseppe Tucci. Scaligero is the author of over 30 books that deal with philosophical and esoteric themes; five of which have been translated into German and published.
