Mathematical Association of America

The Mathematical Association of America ( short MAA) is an association of American mathematician with a focus on mathematics, ( ie school mathematics, college and high school education, university education up to the first degree ) is accessible to undergraduate level.

The beginnings go back to the, founded by Benjamin Finkel in 1894 journal American Mathematical Monthly, which created a medium for mathematics on undergraduate level. The out -building in the subsequent years, the organization was founded in 1916 and 1920, registered as a charitable organization in Illinois. If it was at first only a little more than a society for the publication of the American Mathematical Monthly, the MAA has since grown considerably and now has over 27,000 members (as of 2008 ).

The second great mathematician organization in the United States is the American Mathematical Society.
