Mathematische Zeitschrift

Mathematical Journal is a journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics. It is published by Springer-Verlag.

1918, it was founded by Leon Lichtenstein together with Konrad Knopp, Erhard Schmidt and Schur Isay. The scientific council at that time were the famous mathematician Leopold Fejér, Wilhelm Blaschke, Gustav Herglotz, Adolf Kneser, Oskar Perron, Edmund Landau, Friedrich Schur, Hermann Weyl, Eduard Study. The initiative was taken by Springer- Verlag, the contacted in 1914 Lichtenstein to grasp with its own journal in which at that time dominated by Teubner mathematical Publishing foot. The Mathematical Journal was intended as competition to the Mathematische Annalen from Teubner, the then leading German magazine, but also ( as had diminished the interest in Teubner at the loss-making business mathematics ) 1919, Springer.

Later editors have included Erich Kamke, Erich Hecke, Rolf Nevanlinna, Helmut Wielandt.

The impact factor of the journal was in 2012 at 0,879. In the statistics of the ISI Web of Knowledge, the magazine ranked 53 out of 295 ranked regarded journals in the category of mathematics.
