Mathias Énard

Mathias Lenard ( born January 11, 1972 in Niort, Deux-Sevres, France ) is a French writer and translator.

Life

Lenard studied at the Institut national des langues et civilizations orientales ( INALCO ) in Paris, the Arabic and Persian language. After extended stays in the Middle East, he went in 2000 to Barcelona. There he was a member of various cultural magazines. He was also a member of the editorial board of the French magazine for literature and philosophy inculte. From 2010 he taught Arabic at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

ENARD in the years was 2005/2006 scholarship from the Villa Medici in Rome. In 2011 he founded in Paris, along with others, the graphic edition scrawitch. In 2013/14 he is a guest of the DAAD Berlin Artists Programme.

His novel zone from 2008 is an inner monologue of a war veterans from the war in Yugoslavia, which goes into a single sentence without a period over 500 pages. The novel took care of its international perception.
