Mathurin Moreau

Mathurin Moreau ( born November 18, 1822 in Dijon, † 1912 in Paris) was a French sculptor.

Life

His father was the sculptor Jean -Baptiste Louis Josephe Moreau, who had already made a name as a sculptor in Dijon. Except for his father Mathurin Moreau was also student of Claude Ramey and Albert Dumont. Mathurin Moreau created monuments in Angers, Beaune, Dijon and Nuits -Saint -Georges. For the churches of St. Augustin and La Trinité in Paris, he created numerous sculptures; as for the Paris representative buildings, such as for the Paris Opera. In addition, works are in the hand of Mathurin Moreau in the museums of Dijon and Marseille and Museum of Military History in Vienna.

Since the 1970s, Moreau sculptures are traded at auctions and fairs in the four - to five -digit dollar range.
