Matic Skube

Automatic Skube ( born February 23, 1988 in Kranj ) is a Slovenian alpine skier. He specializes in the slalom and giant slalom.

Biography

Skube 2001 took part in the Trofeo Topolino and took third place in the slalom. From December 2003 he participated in FIS races. At the European Youth Olympic Festival 2005 in Morgins / Les Crosets, he won the silver in the giant slalom and the bronze medal in the slalom. From March 2006, he came in the European Cup for use. On November 12, 2006 Skube debuted in the World Cup; the slalom in Levi, however, he failed to qualify for the second run itself, and also in four other stakes.

In January 2007 Skube won at the Universiade in Bardonecchia the silver medal in the slalom, two months later he was in Flachau World Junior Champion in the same discipline. He qualified thus for the World Cup Final in Lenzerheide, where he went to 22nd position. However, since only the first 15 places will be counted at the end of the season, he had no World Cup points. After he had fallen behind in terms of performance in the 2007/ 08 season, but the first time Slovenian champion in slalom, he was able to increase again in the following winter.

In the 2009/10 season Skube is a regular good performances in the European Cup. So he could celebrate the first victory at this level on February 9 in the slalom of Méribel. Five weeks earlier, on January 6, he had won 23 of the slalom in Zagreb as the first World Cup points. This was enough to qualify for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. However, in the Olympic slalom race in Whistler -Blackcomb he left in the first run.

His previous best World Cup result reached Skube on 9 January 2011 with twelfth place in the slalom in Adelboden. At the World Championships 2011 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, he finished 26th in the giant slalom, while he retired in slalom after the 24th place overall in the second round.
