Matilde Asensi

Matilde Asensi [ matilde Asensi ] (* 1962 in Alicante) is a Spanish writer of historical novels.

Career

Asensi studied journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and worked for three years in the news agency of Radio Alicante -SER. She then moved to Radio Nacional de España and took over the management of the local and provincial news. At the same time, she worked as a correspondent for the news agency EFE and worked together with the local newspaper La Verdad and Información.

Achievements

Asensi was a finalist in the literary prices Ciudad de San Sebastián (1995) and Gabriel Miró (1996 ) and won the first prize for stories in the XV Certamen Literario Juan Ortiz del Barco (1996 ) in Cádiz and the Premio de Novela Corta XVI Felipe Trigo ( 1997), Badajoz.

Her very first book, published in 1999, the El salón de ámbar, has been translated into several languages. At least with El último Catón rose Asensi 2001 to a successful and critically acclaimed Spanish writer.
