Matjaž Brumen

Matjaž Brumen ( born December 23, 1982 in Ljubljana, SR Slovenia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Slovenian handball player. He is 1.90 m tall.

Brumen, who plays for the Slovenian club RK Koper ( back number 7) and runs for the Slovenian national team, is mostly used on right wing, but he can also accumulate in the right rear area.

Matjaž Brumen began in his hometown with the handball game. For the local first division Prule 67 Ljubljana, he debuted in the first Slovenian league. After two runner-up in 2000 and 2001, where he Prule 2002, the Slovenian league and cup double. As the capital club, however, was forced to declare bankruptcy in 2003, Brumen moved together with his friend Jure Natek on to the serial champions RK Celje. There he won the 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, the Slovenian championship, 2004, 2006 and 2007 the Slovenian Cup and 2004 as the culmination of the EHF Champions League. After these successes Brumen sought a new challenge and joined in 2007 the distinguished club RK Koper.

Matjaž Brumen has been contested 131 matches for the Slovenian national team. In the 2004 European Championship on home soil he became vice European champion. With Slovenia, he participated in the 2007 World Cup in Germany, but finished only 10th place; at the 2008 European Championships in Norway, he was not part of the squad of his country.
