Matrosskaya Tishina

Sailors peace (Russian Матросская тишина, Matrosskaya Tishina ) is the unofficial name of the detention center No. 1 of the City of Moscow ( Следственный изолятор № 1 Управления Федеральной службы исполнения наказаний России по городу Москве ).

It exists since 1945. Takes its name from the eponymous street ( Ulitsa Matrosskaya Tishina ) at the Sokolniki district. Known inmates were former Soviet Defense Minister Dmitri Yazov and the entrepreneur Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
